BI Engineer, SRE (Remote, International)

Overview
In this SRE role, you own the reliability of the BI team’s GCP-hosted APIs and data infrastructure. You’ll drive uptime, performance, and security while curbing cloud spend through proactive monitoring and cost visibility. You’ll partner with data and backend engineers to harden data pipelines and BigQuery workflows, and you’ll lead incident response with post-mortems that prevent recurrence. This role offers impact by shaping platform reliability at scale in a cloud-native environment.
Responsibilities- Monitor uptime and performance of GCP-hosted APIs and services against targets
- Lead incident response for BI platform services and perform post-mortems to prevent recurrence
- Build and maintain observability infrastructure: dashboards, alerts, logging across GCP
- Track cloud spend and implement cost alerts to catch anomalies early
- Review and fix security gaps (IAP configs, service accounts, API access controls)
- Collaborate with data and backend engineers to improve data pipelines and BigQuery workflows
- Contribute to infrastructure-as-code and keep deployments documented and reproducible
- 2+ years in Site Reliability, DevOps, or Cloud Infrastructure in production
- GCP experience with Cloud Run, API Gateway, and BigQuery
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Cloud Monitoring, Datadog)
- Strong cloud security fundamentals (IAM, network controls, access management)
- Proficiency with Git and version control in a team setting
