BI Platform Operations Engineer – (Tableau, Amazon QuickSight & AWS) Rate Range:
$75 -77/hr C2C (40 hrs /week) Duration: 6-12 months Location:
Hybrid, 2-3 days in office, Toronto, ON, Canada Key Responsibilities Administer and support enterprise BI platforms, including Tableau Server and Amazon QuickSight. Manage and troubleshoot QuickSight analyses, dashboards, datasets, data sources, themes, folders, templates, permissions, and related assets. Support SPICE ingestion, dataset refreshes, direct queries, data‑source connectivity, dashboard publishing, sharing, and access management. Manage and automate QuickSight assets and permissions using QuickSight APIs and AWS SDKs. Troubleshoot Athena‑based BI workloads and data access issues. Support AWS Glue Data Catalog, including databases, tables, schemas, partitions, and metadata management. Manage and troubleshoot Lake Formation permissions and data access controls. Support serverless applications utilizing AWS Lambda and API Gateway integrations. Troubleshoot API integrations and REST‑based services supporting BI applications. Monitor platform health using Amazon CloudWatch logs, metrics, dashboards, and alarms. Investigate and resolve infrastructure, authentication, authorization, connectivity, and performance issues. Perform incident management, problem management, root‑cause analysis, and production support activities. Develop automation scripts and operational tooling to improve platform reliability and efficiency. Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support runbooks. Core Qualifications 10+ years of experience supporting enterprise BI and analytics platforms. Strong hands‑on experience with
Tableau Server Administration
and operational support. Extensive experience administering and supporting
Amazon QuickSight
in production environments. Experience supporting:
QuickSight Dashboards Analyses Datasets Data Sources Themes Templates Permissions & Access Controls
Experience troubleshooting:
SPICE Ingestion Dataset Refreshes Direct Queries Dashboard Publishing Sharing & Access Issues Data Connectivity Issues
Experience with Amazon QuickSight APIs and AWS SDKs. Strong knowledge of:
Amazon Athena AWS Glue Data Catalog AWS Lake Formation AWS IAM
Experience with:
AWS Lambda API Gateway REST APIs Serverless Architectures
Strong experience using Amazon CloudWatch for monitoring and observability. Ability to troubleshoot issues across application, infrastructure, API, Lambda, and AWS service layers. Experience with production support, incident management, problem management, and root‑cause analysis. Experience with scripting and automation using:
Python PowerShell Bash AWS CLI
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Amazon Q in QuickSight and Generative BI capabilities. Experience with Amazon Q Topics and semantic modeling for natural language analytics. Familiarity with Quick Suite agents, chat experiences, and Spaces. Experience with embedded QuickSight and programmatic dashboard management. Understanding of Angular, JavaScript, or TypeScript. Experience operating BI Platform-as-a-Service (BI PaaS) or BI-as-a-Service environments. Experience supporting custom applications built on QuickSight APIs. Experience troubleshooting end-to-end data flows involving:
QuickSight Athena Glue Data Catalog Lake Formation S3 IAM
Experience supporting serverless architectures leveraging Lambda and API Gateway. Experience with Tableau Server upgrades, backup/restore, monitoring, and performance tuning. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and cloud deployment practices. Knowledge of ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management practices. Experience supporting enterprise environments with strong security, governance, and compliance requirements.
