In this Associate Director role, you will lead the development of high-quality, persuasive proposal narratives for major infrastructure bids. You will work with cross-functional experts to translate complex technical content into client-focused submissions, shaping responses to evaluation criteria and differentiating the offer. The position sits within a growth-focused UK infrastructure agenda, with opportunities to influence the quality and impact of our bid content. You will mentor colleagues, drive continuous improvement in technical writing, and contribute to market-leading thought leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Lead authorship of technical responses for major infrastructure bids
  • Create precise, compliant and persuasive content aligned with client requirements
  • Interpret evaluation frameworks and shape responses to scoring criteria
  • Translate complex methodologies and value propositions into accessible narratives
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary responses and consolidate contributions
  • Review content for quality, completeness, consistency and compliance
  • Collaborate with bid, resourcing and commercial leads to align submissions with delivery plans
  • Manage bid quality assurance processes, including stage reviews
  • Support early pipeline and pursuit planning and capture lessons learned
  • Develop tailored case studies and value propositions for infrastructure markets
  • Contribute to marketing, presentation and thought-leadership content
  • Mentor colleagues and champion continuous improvement in technical writing, including AI and automation
Key requirements
  • Accomplished proposal, bid or technical author at senior level with multidisciplinary influence
  • Significant experience in proposal authoring within engineering, infrastructure, construction, government, policy or legislative contexts
  • Track record of shaping successful, high-scoring submissions for major bids
  • Experience with public-sector bids and frameworks, collaborating across engineering and environmental domains
  • Ability to interpret complex client requirements and translate into clear, persuasive content
  • Experience in design and build environments or close collaboration with consultants/contractors
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple proposals concurrently while maintaining high standards
  • Experience reviewing and improving content produced by others
  • Commitment to mentoring colleagues and developing authoring capability
  • Professional membership or certification such as CIEP or APMP (ideally)
