Explains financial responsibilities for services received payment options and collection procedures to patients and/or parties responsible for payment. Counsel patients regarding insurance benefits and recommends alternative sources of payment and/or financial assistance when appropriate. Assists with the collection of pre-payments. Identifies and resolves issues related to registration, financial clearance, insurance company authorization requirements, billing, government regulations and HMC policies and procesures. Communication may take place via mail, email or telephone but primarily in person.
Completion of a high school diploma. Experience:

2 to 4 years experience in the field or equivalent experience in a hospital, medical office or customer service setting.
Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers. Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions, policies, guidelines and standards. Ability to use good judgment in the absence of formal guidelines, policies or procedures. Working knowledge of medical A/R software programs, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
