Blast Technical Lead

In this role you will lead blast protection engineering for diverse buildings and facilities, shaping practical protective design solutions. You will collaborate with Security and Structural teams to deliver cutting-edge blast protection across projects from offices to critical government sites. You’ll drive technical excellence, risk assessment, and client-focused design while growing your expertise in CFD and structural analysis. - Provide expert input on blast and protection engineering
- Lead blast protection design including CFD modelling and complex structural analysis
- Oversee production and workload management for blast-related projects
- Develop work plans, assign tasks, and ensure quality management and technical assurance
- Engage with clients to understand goals and propose solutions
- Collaborate with sector leads and Building Engineering teams
- Contribute to business development and sales support
- Conduct risk assessments to determine threat levels and treatments
- Produce employer’s requirements, specifications, feasibility studies, and concept designs
- Manage projects, including progress reporting and contract administration
- Mentor and share knowledge on SH&E and best practices
- Broad technical knowledge of security with in-depth blast analysis and design
- Ability to translate operational and strategic requirements into design basis
- Experience with blast modelling and CFD for wave-structure interaction
- Proficiency with ANSYS, AutoDyn, or similar software for 3D FE modelling and FSI
- Understanding of physical security solutions and performance standards
- Experience in threat reduction, structural vulnerability analyses, façade and glass evaluation, collision and high-speed impact analysis
- Strong document writing and attention to detail
- Solid project management capabilities
- Strong technical/design skills in structural design and security assessment
- Good numerical and analytical abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with senior stakeholders
- Tact, collaboration, and self-motivation
- Ability to hold or obtain Security Clearance
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit (preferred)
