Overview

As a Blast Associate Technical Lead, you will deliver protective blast design and support within AECOM’s Building Engineering Division. You’ll contribute to safe, cost-effective solutions across markets from office fit-outs to critical government facilities. You will lead technical input, CFD modelling, and complex structural analysis to strengthen building resilience against blasts. The role blends design leadership with stakeholder engagement and project delivery in a global, multidisciplinary team. This opportunity lets you shape safe, resilient spaces at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert input on blast and protection engineering and lead blast protection design
  • Perform CFD modelling and complex structural analysis related to blast effects
  • Oversee project production, work plans, and quality assurance
  • Engage with clients to understand goals and formulate solutions
  • Support business development, sales, and tender activities
  • Conduct risk assessments, threat analysis, and determine risk treatments
  • Produce employer’s requirements, specifications, feasibility studies and design concepts
  • Manage projects including progress reporting and contract administration
  • Mentor team members and promote SH&E best practices
Key requirements
  • Broad technical knowledge of security with in-depth blast analysis and design
  • Ability to derive operational and strategic design requirements
  • Expertise in blast modelling and CFD for blast-wave interactions
  • Proficiency with ANSYS, AutoDyn or similar 3D FEA/FSI tools
  • Understanding of physical security solutions and standards
  • Experience in threat reduction, vulnerability analyses and façade evaluations
  • Excellent technical writing and documentation skills
  • Strong project management capabilities
  • Strong interpersonal and senior stakeholder communication
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance
