In this role you will lead design and implementation of building management systems within AECOM’s Building Engineering Division, spanning office, mixed-use, industrial, and government projects. You’ll collaborate with clients, architects, and M&E teams to deliver smart building solutions while aligning with regulatory and sustainability goals. You’ll drive projects end-to-end, from feasibility to commissioning, and mentor the BMS team to push innovation. - Lead design and oversee contractor implementation of BMS systems, ensuring client needs, regulatory compliance, and sustainability goals are met
- Engage with stakeholders at all levels, building strong relationships and providing expert advice
- Manage complex projects end-to-end: feasibility, specifications, tender management, cost and bid analysis, progress reporting
- Conduct system surveys, assessments, FAT/SAT testing, and deliver reports, recommendations, and training
- Drive business development, mentor the BMS team, share knowledge, and contribute to smart building innovations
- Promote Safety, Health & Environmental (SH&E) practices, ensuring compliance and safety culture
- Support integration of mechanical, electrical, and control systems with open standards and BMS technologies (Trend, Tridium, Niagara)
- Occasionally travel nationally to project sites and offices while balancing office-based and remote work
- Strong technical expertise in BMS, mechanical & electrical systems, with experience in control systems, commissioning, and smart building technology
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects nationally, handle workload, finances, and stakeholder engagement
- Excellent communication and leadership skills; able to work with clients, architects, M&E contractors, and senior stakeholders
- Knowledge of open communication standards, BMS trends, and innovative smart building solutions
- Qualifications: HNC or degree in building services, electrical engineering, or computer science; BMS experience with Trend, Tridium, or Niagara; competent in cause & effect matrices, specifications, and commissioning
- Chartered status or working toward it, with security clearance (or willing to obtain)
