Overview

As a BMS Consultant in AECOM’s Building Engineering Division, you design, implement and optimise building management systems across a range of sectors. You’ll lead projects, engage stakeholders, and drive smart building innovations that align with sustainability goals. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to ensure system performance, safety, and regulatory compliance while shaping the future of our clients’ built environments. This role offers hands-on leadership, technical depth, and opportunities to impact large-scale projects across national sites.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design, commissioning, and implementation of BMS systems meeting client needs, regulatory requirements and sustainability goals
  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels, including clients, architects, M&E teams, contractors, and senior management
  • Manage complex projects from feasibility to tender, cost analysis and progress reporting
  • Conduct system surveys, assessments, FAT/SAT testing and provide reports, recommendations and training
  • Drive business development, mentor BMS team, manage knowledge sharing and contribute to smart building innovation
  • Promote SH&E best practices and ensure safety compliance in technical challenges
  • Support integration of mechanical, electrical and control systems using open standards and BMS technologies like Trend, Tridium and Niagara
  • Occasionally travel nationally to project sites and offices with flexible remote work
  • Balance office-based work with hybrid working arrangements
Key requirements
  • Strong technical expertise in BMS and mechanical/electrical systems with experience in control systems and smart building technology
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects nationally, handle workload, finances, and stakeholder engagement
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with clients, architects, M&E contractors, and senior stakeholders
  • Knowledge of open communication standards, BMS trends, and innovative smart building solutions
  • Competent in cause & effect matrices, specifications and commissioning
  • Chartered status or working toward it, with security clearance (or willingness to obtain)
