Bus Safety Development Manager

Overview

In this role you will advance the Bus Safety Programme to help TfL achieve Vision Zero targets for the bus network. You will collaborate across the Bus Safety Development team, SHE and Engineering, and with external operators to deliver safety strategies and improved KPIs. You’ll lead complex, multi-stakeholder projects, explore data-led safety innovations, and sponsor initiatives that reduce injuries. This is a chance to shape safety culture and drive meaningful improvements in London’s bus operations.

Responsibilities
  • Sponsor the delivery of specific projects within the Bus Safety Programme and secure stakeholder buy-in to meet time and cost goals
  • Horizon scan for safety risks across the bus network and coordinate mitigations with SHE
  • Champion the execution of TfL Board, Mayors Office and GLA safety policies
  • Measure project effectiveness using existing datasets and identify new data sources
  • Provide technical safety expertise to support safety performance management of operators
  • Represent senior management in developing safety training and embedding collision reduction practices
  • Identify casualty-related intelligence and recommend mitigations to reduce future incidents
  • Support strategy formulation to meet 2022 and 2030 safety targets with evaluation methods
