C++ Software Engineer | Low Latency Trading | $200k-$300k | Montreal

We’re partnering with a leading global quantitative trading firm that’s looking for an experienced C++ Software Engineer to join a team responsible for building and enhancing the technology that connects trading systems to exchanges and brokers around the world.

This is a hands‑on role developing business‑critical, low‑latency software that sits at the heart of a high‑performance trading environment.

The Opportunity

You’ll take ownership of designing, building and optimising order gateway technology, working closely with traders, engineers and stakeholders to deliver resilient, high‑performance systems. Alongside hands‑on development, you’ll have the opportunity to mentor engineers, influence architecture and grow into technical leadership.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Designing and developing high‑performance C++ applications
  • Building and optimising low‑latency order gateway solutions
  • Collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver robust technical solutions
  • Driving software quality through testing, code reviews and engineering best practices
  • Contributing to architecture and technical design discussions
  • Supporting production systems and continuously improving reliability and performance
  • Mentoring engineers and sharing technical knowledge across the team

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong commercial experience with modern C++
  • Excellent knowledge of Linux development
  • Strong understanding of data structures, networking and software design
  • Experience building high‑performance, mission‑critical systems
  • Passion for solving complex technical challenges
  • Exchange connectivity or trading systems knowledge
  • Financial markets experience (Equities, Futures, Options or other asset classes)
  • Experience working within globally distributed engineering teams
