Overview

As a C# Software Engineer / Team Lead, you will steer a squad in building and operating a modern payments platform within a global financial services group. You combine hands-on coding with architectural ownership, mentoring, and shaping delivery priorities with Product Managers. You’ll drive architecture decisions, code quality, and the adoption of AI-enabled development tools to improve delivery speed and reliability. This is a growth-focused, hands-on leadership role that blends technical ownership with people development.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the squad across architecture, development, delivery and production operations while remaining hands-on
  • Own system architecture, API design, technical decisions, design reviews and code quality
  • Partner with Product Managers on roadmaps, delivery plans and priorities
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, 1-2-1s and feedback to develop engineers
  • Champion AI and agentic coding tools across the SDLC and drive process improvements
  • Lead from the front with technical ownership, hands-on development and responsibility for team growth
Key requirements
  • Strong experience providing technical and team leadership within a software engineering team
  • Strong backend development skills with C#/.Net (other OO languages considered)
  • Strong system design experience, especially distributed systems and microservices
  • Frontend experience with Vue.js, React or modern Angular
  • Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases
  • Production experience with AWS (SQS, DynamoDB, S3, ECS, Lambda)
  • Experience owning CI/CD and release processes (GitHub Actions)
  • Hands-on experience with Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot or similar AI tools
  • Collaborative and pragmatic with good communication skills for technical and business stakeholders
  • Background in payments, FX or regulated industry beneficial
