California Certified Coding Specialist

Seeking a California Certified Coding Specialist with litigation experience, the remote position will perform medical coding audits, utilization reviews, and provide expert support for depositions and testimony as needed. Key responsibilities Perform detailed medical coding audits (ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS) and conduct utilization reviews for medical necessity Review and prepare demand packages and audit response materials, analyzing records for payer disputes Prepare written audit findings and defensible reports while identifying risk areas and compliance vulnerabilities Required qualifications Active CPC certification through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Minimum 5 years of professional coding experience with prior audit and utilization review experience Experience supporting legal cases, depositions, or expert testimony strongly preferred CPMA certification is preferred Excellent written documentation and reporting skills
