Capability Lead - Defence Equipment System Performance

In this permanent role, you will lead a specialist engineering group that assesses the performance of advanced weapon system solutions. You will help grow a capability that supports design, development and operational effectiveness, working closely with project customers and other engineering functions. You will tackle performance modeling, mission planning and algorithm work in HPC environments, shaping how weapon systems perform under varied conditions. This is a strategic leadership position with a strong impact on capability development and delivery.

• Lead and manage a group of specialist engineers across multiple weapon system projects
• Build a high-performing, inclusive engineering capability
• Develop and deliver a vision for future growth of the capability
• Oversee recruitment, staff development, knowledge management, capacity planning and objective setting
• Provide technical leadership on emerging topics, bids and project activities
• Lead assessment of weapon system performance using complex models and high-performance computing environments
• Support mission planning, algorithm development and performance testing across operational conditions
• Build effective relationships with project customers and other engineering functions

• Experience leading specialist engineering teams with varying levels of experience
• Strong understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle
• Knowledge of mission planning, algorithms and weapon system performance assessment
• Experience of performance testing, analysis and the use of complex engineering models
• Understanding of project planning, capacity planning and delivery across multiple projects
• Ability to provide pragmatic technical leadership on emerging engineering topics
• Strong stakeholder management, communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to develop people, promote knowledge sharing and support an inclusive team culture
