Locums - Mount Vernon, Illinois Interventional Cardiology Opportunity

Clinical Role RecruitWell is seeking a Board Certified Interventional Cardiologist for locums coverage in Mount Vernon, Illinois. This is a hospital-based assignment focused on inpatient rounding, cath lab procedures, cardiac study interpretation, and 24-hour STEMI coverage. This is not a clinic position. IMLC candidates are welcome, and candidates willing to obtain an Illinois license will be considered.

Assignment Details

• Coverage dates: December 18-22, 2026

• Onsite hours: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

• 24-hour STEMI coverage

• Call required

• Hospital-based assignment

• No outpatient clinic responsibilities

• Inpatient rounding required

Position Highlights

• Interventional Cardiology hospital coverage

• Approximately 3-5 inpatient consults per day

• Additional procedures based on consult findings

• 24-hour STEMI call

• Cath lab support from RNs

• Two employed Interventional Cardiologists available for backup if needed

• Echo and EKG interpretation for unassigned patients

• IMLC accepted

Clinical Details & Responsibilities

• Round on hospitalized Cardiology patients

• Complete approximately 3-5 inpatient consults per day

• Perform indicated interventional procedures resulting from consults

• Provide 24-hour STEMI coverage

• Interpret echocardiograms

• Interpret EKGs for unassigned patients

• Collaborate with cath lab nursing staff and other Interventional Cardiologists

• Left heart catheterization

• Ventriculography

• Coronary angiography

• Temporary pacemaker placement

• PTCA

• DCA

• TEC atherectomy

• Rotational atherectomy

• AngioJet thrombectomy

• Intravascular ultrasound / IVUS

• Coronary stent placement

• Endomyocardial biopsy

• Peripheral angiography

• Peripheral atherectomy

• Peripheral stent placement

• Peripheral vessel angioplasty

• Transesophageal echocardiography

• Impella

• Integrated ultrasound

Support & Technology

• Cath lab RN support

• Two employed Interventional Cardiologists available for assistance as needed

• EMR: Epic

Requirements

• MD or DO

• Board Certified in Interventional Cardiology required

• Interventional Cardiology fellowship required

• Active Illinois medical license or willingness to obtain one

• IMLC candidates accepted

• ACLS required

• Illinois CSR required

• Minimum 2 years of experience required

Organization & Team

• Hospital-based Interventional Cardiology service

• No clinic responsibilities

• Combination of inpatient rounding, consults, procedural care, study interpretation, and STEMI call

• Collaborative support from cath lab RNs and two employed Interventional Cardiologists
