Locum Tenens Cardiology Job Details

• Opportunity Type: Interventional cardiology locum tenens position
• Location: Eureka, California; Northern California coastal community
• Practice Setting: Inpatient cardiology in a Level III trauma setting
• Specialty Focus: Approximately 75% interventional cardiology and 25% noninvasive cardiology
• Schedule: Call-only coverage with 24-hour beeper call
• Shift Duration: 12-hour day schedule; call coverage generally runs from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• Coverage Dates: Beginning March 2027, with additional coverage needs throughout July, August, and December; specific dates will be confirmed during the placement process
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $9,970-$10,680
• Patient Volume: Approximately 10-15 patient encounters per shift

Interventional Cardiology Physician Requirements

• At least 2 years of current hospital-based clinical experience in interventional cardiology; new graduates will not be considered
• Board certified or board eligible in cardiology, consistent with eligibility within 3-5 years of residency completion
• Completion of an interventional cardiology fellowship
• Active California physician license
• Current DEA registration
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Active fluoroscopy privileges or certification
• Current experience with nuclear cardiology reading or nuclear medicine-related activity
• Updated CV including all hospital affiliations and relevant case history
• Current hospital clinical activity and case logs may be required for credentialing and privileging

Interventional Cardiology Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient interventional cardiology consultation and management during assigned call coverage
• Respond to urgent cardiology issues and evaluate patients requiring advanced cardiovascular care
• Perform interventional cardiology procedures within the physician's approved scope of practice and privileges
• Provide noninvasive cardiology evaluation and interpretation as part of the blended clinical practice
• Participate in 24-hour beeper call coverage from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• Collaborate with hospital-based physicians, nursing teams, procedural staff, and other members of the cardiovascular care team
• Complete timely documentation, communication, and care coordination for inpatient encounters
• Maintain compliance with credentialing, privileging, and applicable clinical quality standards
