Cell Path Technical Lead BMS

In this role you will steer pathology service delivery to meet clinical needs, planning and implementing new methods while ensuring quality. You will deputise for the Service Manager and coordinate staff, rotas, and test repertoires to maintain high standards. You will ensure compliance with UKAS, regulatory bodies, and NHS policies, and translate results into actionable clinical guidance. As part of the lab leadership, you will drive service improvement and efficient resource use across sites, shaping the analytical workplace. • Deputise for the Service Manager and Lead Biomedical Scientist to plan and implement new methods and equipment, including complex decision making and staff scheduling
• Maintain service standards aligned with UKAS, EU Directives, UK legislation, NHS policies, and Good Laboratory Practice
• Process pathology specimens and provide technically accurate results with professional accountability for interpretation
• Lead the overall management of a section or department in partnership with the Operational Lead Scientist to support effective service provision
• Provide professional leadership for all technical aspects of a timely, quality analytical service
• Support the Service Manager and Clinical Lead/Director in optimizing resource use and driving service improvement

• FIBMS and / or MSc and / or Chartered Scientist in an appropriate discipline
• Higher Specialist Diploma or equivalent level experience
• IBMS accredited degree
• Current UK professional registration
• Disclosure and Barring Service check
