Certified Coding Specialist

Working remotely, the full-time Senior Certified Inpatient Coding Specialist will review and abstract inpatient medical records, ensuring accurate medical code assignment for diagnoses and procedures while maintaining compliance with federal regulations. Key responsibilities Review medical record documentation to identify and accurately code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 coding conventions Query physicians for clarity on documentation when code assignments are ambiguous or unclear Maintain coding accuracy and productivity standards, achieving a 92% to 95% success rate in ICD-10 and DRG assignments Required qualifications High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Health Information Management or a related field preferred Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) or other relevant coding certifications from AHIMA or AAPC required Five years of inpatient hospital coding experience required Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and PCS coding Experience coding in a level 1 trauma facility or academic teaching facility preferred
