Payroll Lead
Responsibilities Include:
- Overseeing the accurate and timely processing of weekly and bi-weekly payrolls
- Providing day to day leadership, support and guidance to the Payroll team
- Reviewing payroll for accuracy and ensuring appropriate controls and procedures are followed
- Ensuring compliance with payroll legislation, company policies and employment standards across multiple jurisdictions
- Managing payroll reconciliations, remittances, year-end processing and reporting
- Supporting the administration of taxable benefits, deductions and other payroll-related programs
- Administering our Group Health Benefits program
- Assisting and support with WCB administration and compliance across multiple provinces
- Researching and resolving complex payroll questions and discrepancies
- Working collaboratively with HR, Accounting, Operations and managers throughout the organization
- Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls and efficiencies
- Supporting system improvements and changes as our payroll and accounting processes continue to evolve
- Building knowledge within the team through training, documentation, and cross-training
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Significant hands-on payroll processing experience
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation through the National Payroll Institute (Canadian Payroll Association), or equivalent recognized Canadian payroll certification
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, statutory deductions, taxable benefits, ROEs, T4s and year-end requirements
- Experience working with high-volume and/or multi-company payroll is an asset
- Previous supervisory or team-lead experience preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong commitment to accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet firm deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and confidence to work with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization
- High degree of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information
- Mindset of continuous improvement
