CICS Mainframe Systems Programmer

In this role you will ensure stability, availability, and performance of CICS services within the IBM Mainframe environment, driving continuous improvement. You will provide technical leadership during incidents and collaborate with development and application support teams to deliver robust solutions. You will install, configure, maintain, and upgrade CICS systems, while supporting both strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations. You help optimize service levels and contribute to modernization efforts, shaping resilient, enterprise-scale mainframe services.

• Install, configure, administer, and support CICS systems software
• Create and manage CICS resource definitions and system configurations
• Provide Level 2/3 support and incident resolution for production CICS environments
• Lead problem determination, root cause analysis, and recovery during critical incidents
• Design and implement solutions to improve availability, performance, and efficiency
• Monitor performance and plan capacity for CICS environments
• Develop backup, recovery, and business continuity procedures
• Administer access controls (RACF) and support security implementations
• Collaborate with application support and development teams to resolve complex issues
• Maintain technical documentation and operational standards
• Participate in change, release, and deployment activities
• Support planned maintenance, upgrades, and after-hours support
• Drive automation and process improvements in CICS operations
• Contribute to technology modernization and infrastructure enhancement initiatives

• Several years of Mainframe Systems Programming with specialization in CICS (administration and support)
• Experience with large-scale, mission-critical CICS environments
• Experience with installation, customization, upgrade, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CICS Transaction Server
• Exposure to Mainframe Sysplex environments and high availability configurations
• Hands-on experience with: CICS Transaction Server, SMP/E, z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, RACF
• Experience installing, upgrading, configuring, and troubleshooting CICS environments
• Ability to analyze and resolve complex system and application issues
• Experience supporting production-critical systems with stringent availability requirements
• Strong understanding of system performance management and capacity planning
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
