Civil Engineer – Data Centres & Infrastructure

As a Civil Engineer at Arup in Manchester, you contribute to delivering major data centre and electricity transmission projects. You work within a multidisciplinary team to design and deliver sustainable civil solutions that underpin the UK’s digital economy and energy transition. You will engage across feasibility to delivery, collaborating with specialists to solve complex infrastructure challenges. • Support design and delivery of civil engineering solutions for data centre and transmission projects
• Develop site layouts, drainage strategies, earthworks, access arrangements and utility coordination
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create integrated, sustainable designs
• Produce designs, drawings, calculations and reports to high standards
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to deliver practical, innovative outcomes
• Own defined elements of projects and ensure quality control of work
• Contribute to digital engineering, BIM-led delivery and data-driven design approaches

• A degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Experience with design software such as Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, AutoCAD or similar
• Interest in digital design, BIM and automation in engineering delivery
• Proactive and adaptable problem-solving approach
• Experience delivering site development, utilities, energy or major infrastructure projects
• Progression toward or achievement of professional chartership (ICE or equivalent) advantageous
