Overview

As part of WSP's Development Team, you contribute to concept studies, strategies and drawings that feed planning applications and construction packages. You’ll work across diverse development projects, balancing budget, programme and technical standards while collaborating with clients and design teams. You will be supported to grow technically and progress toward Chartership. This role blends multidisciplinary design with sustainable development to shape responsible, large‑scale schemes.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to concept studies, strategies and drawings advancing planning applications and construction outputs
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders and liaise with internal and external design teams
  • Deliver tasks within budget, programme and technical/legal requirements
  • Support development projects across sectors from land acquisition through to scheme implementation
  • Produce infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, design calculations and construction drawings under supervision
  • Coordinate with highway, water, utilities and local authorities to secure approvals and Statutory Agreements
Key requirements
  • Knowledge of highway design, drainage strategy and design, flood risk assessment and management, utility design and planning
  • Awareness of hydraulics, hydrology, geotechnics and building structures
  • Experience with design codes and drawings for contract documentation and technical approvals
  • Experience liaising with clients and design teams and negotiating approvals and agreements
  • Understanding of planning processes, design software, and technical consents for sewers, SuDS, highways and utilities
  • Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC) through vetting
  • Postgraduate experience and working towards Chartership or equivalent
