Cloud Architect
Galen College of Nursing
Job Description
A Louisville higher-education institution is hiring a Cloud Architect to own its Microsoft Azure environment end to end — the design, the build, and everything that keeps it running. This is a hands-on seat. You'll set the architecture standards and then go implement them yourself, working alongside infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, application and campus technology teams.
What you'll do
- Design, deploy and administer Azure infrastructure and cloud-native services
- Set enterprise cloud architecture standards, reference architectures and roadmaps for cloud, hybrid and future multi-cloud
- Manage subscriptions, resource groups, virtual networks, compute, storage, databases, backup, DR and identity services
- Build and maintain hybrid connectivity between on-premises infrastructure and Azure
- Configure Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, Privileged Identity Management and RBAC
- Automate with Terraform, Bicep or ARM Templates, plus PowerShell and Azure CLI
- Monitor performance, security and compliance through Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Defender for Cloud
- Implement backup, disaster recovery and high availability with Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery
- Support cloud migrations, infrastructure modernization and enterprise technology initiatives
- Partner with cybersecurity on cloud security, vulnerability remediation and Zero Trust
- Mentor infrastructure teammates on cloud technologies and operational best practice
What you need
- 5+ years supporting enterprise infrastructure, with hands-on Microsoft Azure at the center of it
- Experience administering Entra ID, Azure networking, storage, compute, monitoring and security services
- Infrastructure as Code you've written and maintained — Terraform, Bicep or ARM Templates
- Strong PowerShell and Azure CLI scripting and automation
- Solid grounding in cloud networking — VPN connectivity, firewalls, DNS, load balancing and hybrid networking
- Experience implementing backup, disaster recovery, business continuity and high availability
- A track record of carrying work from design through deployment into production
- Bachelor's in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent experience
Nice to have
- Azure certifications — AZ-104, AZ-305 or AZ-500
- Higher education or healthcare environment experience
- Azure DevOps or GitHub, CI/CD pipelines and version control
- Zero Trust architecture and compliance frameworks
- Multi-cloud exposure
Details
- 6-month contract-to-hire (conversion salary is 120k/yr)
- Hybrid in Louisville, KY — onsite 4 days a week to start, settling to 3 days after training is over
- Monday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm EST
