Cloud Architect - Azure & GCP | Banking | Cloud Transformation | Contract

I'm currently recruiting for an experienced Cloud Architect to join a major cloud transformation and application modernisation programme within a leading financial services organisation.

This is a hands‑on architecture role, working across Azure and GCP to modernise legacy applications, support core banking transformation and drive adoption of secure, cloud‑native technologies.

Rate: Inside IR35

Duration: Initial 6 months

Location: Hybrid in Central London

What you'll be doing:

  • Define and deliver Azure & GCP cloud architectures and reference patterns
  • Lead application migration and modernisation across rehost, re-platform, refactor and cloud‑native approaches
  • Drive Terraform / Infrastructure‑as‑Code, CI/CD, Kubernetes and cloud‑native adoption
  • Define standards around networking, IAM, security, monitoring, resilience and DR
  • Provide technical leadership and present architecture decisions to senior stakeholders and governance forums

Key experience:

  • Senior Architect within technology, with 5+ years in Cloud Architecture
  • Strong hands‑on experience across Microsoft Azure and GCP
  • Azure: Landing Zones, AKS, App Services, Functions, API Management and Networking
  • GCP: GKE, Cloud Run, Compute Engine, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, VPC & IAM
  • Strong Terraform, Kubernetes, CI/CD and cloud‑native architecture experience
  • Proven experience delivering transformation programmes within banking or regulated financial services
  • Understanding of operational resilience, cloud security,
