Overview
In this role you help operate and evolve cloud-based database platforms within a cloud-first AWS environment. You collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable systems that support critical services. You’ll focus on reliability, performance, automation, and disaster recovery, driving improvements across the data platform. This is a hands-on opportunity to shape secure, high-availability infrastructure in a fast-growing, analytics-powered business.

- Operate and evolve highly available cloud database platforms hosted in AWS
- Contribute to design and implementation of scalable, resilient, and secure systems
- Investigate and resolve complex technical challenges alongside experienced engineers
- Monitor, analyse, and optimise database and platform performance
- Automate operational processes using Infrastructure as Code and modern DevOps practices
- Support backup, recovery, and business continuity capabilities
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies to improve platform performance, stability, and security
- Collaborate with architects, developers, security teams, and business stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes
- Experience in database engineering, cloud platform operations, or related infrastructure engineering
- AWS cloud platforms
- Relational database technologies including MySQL and Aurora
- Database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, backup and recovery
- Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform and Ansible
- Linux administration and scripting or programming skills, ideally Python
- Git version control
- Security best practices in platform design and operations
