About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Cloud Engineer for a 3-month contract based in London, operating in a hybrid work environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a focused team on building and automating secure, governed cloud infrastructure primarily on Azure. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating design specifications into reliable infrastructure solutions, emphasizing Infrastructure as Code, governance, and security best practices. The role is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys developing scalable, compliant, and automated cloud environments that support organizational objectives.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in delivering end-to-end cloud infrastructure projects, particularly on Azure.
• Strong practical knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as ARM templates, Terraform, or similar.
• Deep understanding of cloud governance, Azure policies, management groups, and RBAC for secure and compliant environments.
• Experience provisioning and managing core Azure services including networking, storage, key vaults, and virtual machine workloads.
• Ability to design and implement secure network architectures, including load balancers and firewall configurations.
• Familiarity with backup, monitoring, and automation tools to ensure high availability and operational efficiency.
• Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively within a small, specialized team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed low-level designs for the target Azure cloud environment, aligning with organizational requirements and best practices.
• Set up and configure Infrastructure as Code platforms to enable the deployment of landing zones and automated environment provisioning.
• Create management groups, subscriptions, resource groups, and apply Azure policies to enforce governance and compliance standards.
• Configure Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) to ensure secure and appropriate access controls across the environment.
• Build, test, and optimize network components, including load balancers, virtual networks, and security groups.
• Provision and manage core cloud services such as storage accounts, Azure Key Vaults, and file servers to support application needs.
• Implement backup solutions and monitoring services to ensure data integrity, security, and operational visibility.
• Provision virtual machines for various workloads, including application servers, middleware, and databases, with appropriate security controls.
• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues, optimize deployments, and ensure adherence to governance standards.
