Overview
As a Cloud Engineer, you will design, develop and maintain cloud-based applications on AWS within autonomous DevOps teams. You’ll work on secure, resilient cloud solutions that support mission-critical national security and defence initiatives, collaborating with software and cloud specialists. You will own solutions end-to-end, from requirements to deployment and support, contributing to innovative cloud-native delivery. This role offers exposure to cutting-edge projects, strong technical mentoring, and opportunities to advance your cloud engineering career.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, deploy and maintain AWS-based applications and services
- Collaborate in autonomous DevOps teams to deliver secure cloud solutions
- Engage with end-users and stakeholders to clarify requirements and solve complex problems
- Identify appropriate technologies for varying customer needs and architect solutions
- Develop cloud-native applications and services across the delivery lifecycle
- Contribute from design to deployment and operational support
- Identify innovative approaches to engineering and business challenges
- Work with software engineers, cloud specialists and wider technical teams
- Support customers through cloud adoption and transformation journeys
- Significant AWS experience and expert-level capability
- Scripting with Shell, Bash and/or Python
- Coding in at least one Lambda-compatible language
- Experience with IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK)
- Experience with Git or other VCS
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience in an Agile delivery environment (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, SAFe or XP)
