Overview

As Cloud Infrastructure Engineer at McLaren Automotive, you design, build, and operate Azure and hybrid-cloud platforms to enable fast, secure delivery of high-performance engineering and manufacturing workloads. You’ll implement governance, FinOps, and automation to reduce risk and cost while maintaining production resilience. You collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex cloud requirements into scalable, auditable solutions. This role offers hands-on cloud engineering with a strong focus on security and operational excellence, shaping how McLaren leverages the cloud to accelerate innovation.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, automate, and run Azure landing zones, virtual networks, AVD/VDI hosts, and platform services using IaC with secure-by-default principles
  • Manage Entra ID, Microsoft 365 and hybrid identity (RBAC, PIM, Conditional Access, group management, privileged account governance) to minimize attack surface
  • Own Azure DevOps and GitHub pipelines, repositories, automation, and certificate provisioning to ensure repeatable, auditable changes
  • Deliver and govern platform changes via the Technical CAB with designs, risk assessments, and operational docs
  • Integrate and operate cloud security tooling, act on posture and vulnerability findings to uphold security baseline
  • Drive FinOps and cost discipline across the cloud estate, optimize workloads and improve spend visibility
  • Provide third-line troubleshooting, hand over BAU tasks to NTT, and author SOPs and run-books to reduce key-person dependency
Key requirements
  • Strong hands-on Azure engineering across compute, networking, storage, AVD, and platform services
  • Ent ra ID / Microsoft 365 administration, hybrid identity, RBAC, PIM, Conditional Access
  • Infrastructure-as-Code and automation (Azure DevOps, PowerShell, Bicep/Terraform, CI/CD pipelines)
  • Cloud security tooling, vulnerability remediation, and secure configuration
  • Exposure to containers/Kubernetes and multi-cloud (AWS/GCP) is an advantage
  • Automation-first mindset focused on protecting production and challenging status quo
  • Collaborative, clear communicator with ability to explain cloud risk to diverse stakeholders
