Overview

In this role you will own and optimize the performance, security and reliability of cloud platforms and hosted services. You will lead incident, change and event management, driving timely restorations and root-cause analysis. You’ll guide governance, runbooks and FinOps practices while coordinating with partners and suppliers. You will shape cloud strategy and ensure safe transitions of new services into live operation. This is a senior, cross-functional leadership role in a mission-driven energy company.

Responsibilities
  • Own operational performance, availability, capacity and resilience of cloud platforms.
  • Lead cloud incident, problem, change and event management with timely restoration and RCA.
  • Maintain runbooks, support models and alignment with ITSM and engineering practices.
  • Ensure cloud environments meet security, risk, audit, data protection and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage vulnerability processes to protect the estate.
  • Oversee cloud consumption, budgets, forecasts and optimisations with FinOps practices.
  • Manage service providers and partners against SLAs and improvement actions.
  • Drive automation, observability and tooling to reduce manual work and increase reliability.
  • Support safe transition of new/changed cloud services into live operation.
Key requirements
  • Extensive experience in cloud operations or platform services in a complex enterprise.
  • Hands-on knowledge of at least two major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Salesforce or Oracle Cloud).
  • Proven service management, governance, incident leadership and continual service improvement.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking, IAM, security controls, backup, DR, monitoring and automation.
  • Experience managing third-party suppliers, contracts and performance reviews.
  • Experience with cloud cost management, budgeting, forecasting and optimisation.
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure balancing resilience, security, cost and delivery.
