Cloud Performance Engineer

In this role you will architect and optimize cloud-based, latency-sensitive trading workloads in a collaborative Cloud Performance Team. You will partner with cloud engineers, software developers, and network specialists to design high-performance architectures and monitor end-to-end latency. You will contribute to orchestration tooling, provisioning, and performance data systems to enable fast, reliable trading operations. This position offers the opportunity to shape scalable cloud solutions that support DRW’s fast-paced, technology-driven trading approach. You will work across teams to balance speed, security, and reliability while advancing the firm's technology stack.
Responsibilities- Design and implement cloud and hybrid cloud architectures for latency-sensitive trading workloads
- Build and maintain systems that monitor latency characteristics of distributed hybrid workloads
- Develop orchestration tooling for provisioning cloud resources, networking configurations, and server-side processes
- Build backend systems for collecting performance metrics and tooling to query them
- 4+ years of AWS experience with deep knowledge of EC2, VPC, Direct Connect and IAM concepts
- Terraform and IaC experience to manage cloud infrastructure and compute/network resources (Docker, Kubernetes, Cisco devices)
- Strong networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP) and routing protocols
- Solid Linux systems knowledge and Linux networking stack understanding
- Automation proficiency with Bash and Python, and experience with serverless orchestration
- Experience with modern AI coding agents for rapid prototyping with quality deliverables
- Security-first mindset aligning with firm-wide policies and best practices
