Overview
In this role you will lead the engineering and delivery of Abcam's enterprise cloud platform, with AWS as the primary provider. You will partner with Enterprise Architecture, Cyber Security, Product Engineering and SRE to implement automated, secure and scalable infrastructure. The position combines hands-on platform work with leadership to improve reliability and speed of technology delivery. You will operate in a hybrid setup supporting global operations from Cambridge, shaping the platform that underpins critical life sciences solutions.

- Deliver enhancements across networking, identity, connectivity, compute, storage, and container platforms.
- Implement governance, resilience, recoverability, and operational readiness requirements.
- Lead Infrastructure as Code adoption using Terraform and CloudFormation.
- Drive GitOps and automation-first practices while reducing manual processes.
- Ensure infrastructure provisioning is automated, repeatable, version-controlled, and secure.
- Build and maintain reusable modules, templates, and deployment pipelines.
- Establish engineering quality standards for infrastructure code.
- 5+ years' experience in Cloud, Infrastructure, or Platform Engineering.
- 2+ years' experience leading engineering teams or providing technical leadership.
- Strong AWS platform design, build, and operation experience in enterprise environments (networking, connectivity, identity management).
- Experience supporting business-critical production platforms.
- AWS and/or Kubernetes certifications.
