In this role you will provide, maintain, and develop engineering services for combustion systems across Area 1, acting as the in-area expert on end-to-end systems from control to burner. You will assess process unit capability, drive safety improvements, and target efficiency gains while managing costs. You’ll lead combustion system projects from design to commissioning and ensure compliance with health and safety standards. You’ll implement management and reporting for combustion systems and guide procedures, training, and monitoring activities. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role with a clear impact on site safety, performance, and compliance.

- Provide, maintain and develop engineering services for combustion systems in Area 1
- Act as combustion system expert for the manufacturing area and suggest safety and efficiency improvements
- Manage combustion system improvement projects (design, specification, installation, commissioning)
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards and guidance
- Develop and manage combustion system management and reporting systems
- Advise on SOP, QA and combustion system procedures for manufacturing areas
- Identify training and development needs for on-site personnel
- Set and ensure sampling/testing routines for routine monitoring and control to meet internal and external standards
- Lead maintenance and testing of SIL rated equipment
- Focal point for requests for combustion system projects, guidance, information and problem solving
- Provide advice for site Safety, COMAH and Environmental activities
- Degree level in engineering or equivalent experience in the Steel and/or Tinplate industry (preferred)
- Knowledge of gas, air, electrical & instrumentation systems
- Ability to communicate across all levels
