Overview

In this role you shape technology solutions at the intersection of sales, finance, and delivery to enable commercially viable deals. You align deal timing with customer budgets and procurement, present rationales to leadership and customers, and manage commercial risk across the pursuit lifecycle. You work closely with cross-functional teams to balance customer affordability with WWT profitability while navigating fast-paced, global environments. This is a strategic advisory role that drives value through structured deal constructs and governance.

Responsibilities
  • Understand customer budget cycles, funding processes, and procurement pathways and align deal timing and structure accordingly.
  • Interface with customer finance, procurement, and IT leadership to support deal construct and negotiation.
  • Advise on commercially viable solutions balancing customer affordability and WWT profitability/risk tolerance.
  • Collaborate with sales as the commercial/financial subject-matter expert through the deal lifecycle.
  • Develop deep expertise in WWT’s financing, leasing options, contract vehicles, and customer business context.
  • Diagnose costs and operational challenges to build financing structures, phased delivery, and consumption-based models.
  • Identify, assess, and manage commercial risk (pricing exposure, terms, margin erosion, delivery risk) with mitigations before approval.
  • Present deal rationale, structure, and risk to internal leadership and customers, tailoring messages to audiences while maintaining transparency.
  • Operate effectively in changing parameters within fast-moving, global virtual teams.
  • Apply deal governance and qualification frameworks to strengthen and de-risk pursuits.
Key requirements
  • Experience in Commercial/Finance leadership for IT deals, pursuit/bid leadership, or deal qualification and governance.
  • Strong financial acumen: pricing, TCO/ROI, margin analysis, financing/leasing structures.
  • Proven ability to manage commercial risk across deal lifecycles and communicate risk clearly to leadership and customers.
  • Comfort presenting commercial positions to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of commercial terms and contract frameworks to shape deal structure (not legal drafting).
  • Ability to operate with ambiguity in fast-paced, global, virtual teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional influence with sales, finance, legal, and delivery teams.
