Compiler Engineer
Intellectual Capital Resources
As a Senior/Principal Compiler Engineer you will help design and implement a greenfield compiler stack for a novel photonic accelerator. You will bridge software and hardware by building representations, lowering and optimization passes, and ensuring production-quality code. You’ll integrate with ML frameworks and cryptography tools, shaping how high-level workloads map to our proprietary target. This role offers technical leadership and influence over the software architecture in a cutting-edge hardware platform. You will collaborate across hardware, simulation, cryptography and algorithms teams to deliver performant, privacy-preserving workloads.
Responsibilities- Design and implement core components of a greenfield compiler stack
- Develop intermediate representations, lowering pipelines and transformation passes
- Build hardware-aware compiler optimisations
- Integrate with technologies such as Google HEIR, PyTorch and ONNX Runtime
- Translate high-level workloads into efficient code for a novel accelerator
- Collaborate with hardware, simulation, cryptography and algorithms engineers
- Benchmark, profiling and debugging of generated workloads
- Influence the technical direction and architecture of the software platform
- Strong professional experience with modern C++
- Hands-on compiler development experience at the IR, middle-end or back-end level
- Experience with MLIR, LLVM IR or another compiler/framework IR
- Knowledge of compiler passes, lowering, optimisation and code generation
- Experience targeting a processor, accelerator or custom architecture
- Interest in hardware-software co-design and building production-quality systems
- MLIR experience ideal but not essential; open to MLIR learners
- Experience with GPU, NPU, DSP, FPGA or custom-silicon compilers
- Cryptography or Fully Homomorphic Encryption experience useful but not required
- collaboration across cross-functional teams
- strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
- effective communication and technical leadership
- modern C++
- compiler development (IR/middle-end/back-end)
- MLIR / LLVM IR
