Rate: Competitive (Inside IR35)

We are seeking an experienced Connect: Direct/Managed File Transfer (MFT) Engineer to join a large-scale enterprise environment, supporting critical file transfer infrastructure and integration services across business and technology teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for a specialist engineer with strong experience in secure file transfer technologies, operational support, and platform engineering within a complex, highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, support, and enhance IBM Sterling Connect: Direct file transfer services.
  • Manage and monitor enterprise-wide managed file transfer (MFT) platforms.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and optimise file transfer processes and workflows.
  • Support onboarding of new applications, partners, and data feeds.
  • Investigate and resolve incidents, service disruptions, and performance issues.
  • Implement security controls, encryption standards, certificates, and access management.
  • Work closely with infrastructure, network, security, and application teams to deliver reliable data transfer solutions.
  • Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support materials.
  • Participate in platform upgrades, migrations, and continual improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with IBM Sterling Connect: Direct.
  • Experience supporting Managed File Transfer (MFT) environments.
  • Knowledge of SFTP, FTPS, SCP, HTTPS, SSH, and secure data transfer protocols.
  • Experience administering Linux and/or Unix environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and incident management skills.
  • Understanding of network concepts including Firewalls, DNS, load balancing, and TCP/IP.
  • Experience working within ITIL-based support environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and documentation skills.

Desirable Experience

  • IBM Sterling File Gateway.
  • IBM Sterling Secure Proxy.
  • IBM Control Centre.
  • Automation and Scripting (Shell, Python, PowerShell).
