Connectivity and Messaging Engineer

In this role you will contribute to ULTRA, our connectivity and messaging platform, enabling secure, scalable communication across the IB trading stack. You will work within Global Technology in London to integrate modern technologies with legacy systems and support mission-critical, 24/7 operations. You will collaborate with multiple IB teams to design, implement, and test new exchange gateways and features, while continually improving automation and performance. This is a hands-on, impact-driven role at a leading European private bank, offering exposure to Kubernetes, microservices, and cutting-edge trading infrastructure.

• Develop and enhance ULTRA, an in-house micro-service based platform deployed on Kubernetes
• Collaborate with IB teams and other systems to enable cross-system communication
• Implement and maintain new exchange gateways as markets evolve
• Conduct automated testing for new features and changes in ULTRA
• Provide varying levels of production support and issue resolution
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and overall automation and performance monitoring

• Java development for low-latency, high-throughput applications
• OOA/OOD skills and understanding of multi-threading and messaging patterns
• Full development lifecycle experience (implementation, review, automated testing, release, CI/CD)
• Solid understanding of the FIX protocol and FIX engines
• TCP/IP networking knowledge (routing, subnets, IP concepts)
• Experience with containers (Docker) and Kubernetes is highly advantageous
