Consultant - Manager, Backend Developer - Tech Consultancy - Defence & Security

In this Backend Developer role, you will help defence clients digitise their operations by building robust, cloud-native microservices and automation-driven platforms. You’ll work within a cross-functional team to design, implement, and operate features from strategy to production, focusing on reliability and security. The role blends modern tech with traditional military functions to deliver impactful digital solutions. • Deliver features end-to-end with cross-team collaboration
• Build cloud-native, containerised apps using AWS Lambda, Spring Boot, NodeJS, Python FastAPI, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
• Work in a DevSecOps and Agile ecosystem with Atlassian, Jenkins, GitLab, OWASP, AWS tooling
• Apply Site Reliability Engineering practices to improve availability and reduce costs
• Explain trade-offs in product decisions and rationale to clients and users
• Engage in continuous learning through workshops, articles, and engineering culture
• Go beyond duties to add value for clients

• 3-10+ years of software development experience
• Active UK Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance
• Experience with Java, TypeScript, JavaScript, and/or Python fundamentals
• Solid understanding of software engineering patterns and practices
• Demonstrated experience working in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban)
• Hands-on experience with cloud-native and containerised architectures
