Location: New York, NY (Hybrid: 3 days in-office, 2 days remote)
Up to 180K base + 20% bonus
A leading global endowment management organization overseeing more than $5 billion in assets is seeking a Controller to join its New York-based team. The organization manages a sophisticated investment portfolio on behalf of a globally recognized research and educational institution and its affiliated entities.

Position Overview
- Support day-to-day accounting and financial reporting activities for the endowment portfolio and related entities
- Serve as the primary liaison for audit and tax matters
- Support governance and board-related processes
- Partner closely with senior leadership on financial reporting, operational initiatives, and strategic projects
- Help drive continuous improvement across the accounting and operations functions
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Manage accounting and financial reporting activities for endowment-related entities
- Ensure financial reporting is maintained in accordance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Record journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and oversee invoice and expense payment processes
- Coordinate the annual audit process
Fund Oversight & Investment Operations
- Oversee and review the work of third-party accounting providers
- Review monthly fund financial statements, investor reporting, and expense allocations
- Coordinate responses to ad hoc reporting requests
- Identify reporting risks and recommend process improvements and control enhancements
Audit, Tax & Compliance
- Serve as the primary point of contact for auditors and tax advisors
- Coordinate annual audit and tax deliverables
- Maintain strong internal controls and compliance processes
- Monitor evolving accounting standards and recommend implementation strategies when necessary
Governance & Strategic Support
- Support board and committee meetings, including preparation of agendas, materials, minutes, and follow-up items
- Maintain and enhance policies and procedures
- Manage assigned vendor relationships
- Assist with special projects across finance, operations, and governance functions
