Overview

President, TMG Search Canada | Executive Search | Talent Advisory | Leadership Recruiting. TMG Search Canada has been retained by our client to fill the position of Controller.

The Controller will oversee all financial operations within a dynamic manufacturing environment, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across the organization’s accounting and reporting functions. This role plays a critical part in supporting operational excellence by providing financial insight, driving cost control, and partnering closely with production, supply chain, and executive leadership, to achieve business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls to support the operations.
• Develop and maintain cost accounting systems, including product costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
• Partner with operations and supply chain leaders to monitor production costs, optimize margins, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance reports.
• Oversee compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
• Implement and enhance systems and processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and visibility of financial data.
• Provide strategic financial guidance to senior leadership and contribute to business planning and operational decision-making.
• Lead and provide ongoing learning and development opportunities for the accounting team.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting and finance experience with at least 3–5 years in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and ERP systems.
• Proven leadership ability and experience developing team members.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
