We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Controller to lead our finance and accounting functions with energy and precision. As a key member of our financial leadership team, you will oversee all aspects of accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities

Accounting and Financial Reporting

  • Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, with timely and accurate financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain strong internal controls
  • Oversee the general ledger, chart of accounts, and account reconciliations
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and banks

Revenue and Order-to-Cash

  • Oversee revenue recognition across multiple sales channels (e.g., wholesale/API partners, packaging and custom print)
  • Reconcile payment processor payouts (PayPal, Shopify) to sales, fees, refunds, and chargebacks
  • Manage sales tax, GST/HST, and marketplace facilitator compliance across jurisdictions

Payroll

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for salaried, hourly, and shift-based production staff, including overtime.
  • Ensure accurate payroll tax withholding, remittance, and filings (payroll, year-end, and other statutory reporting)
  • Reconcile payroll to the general ledger; manage accruals for wages, vacation, bonuses, and benefits
  • Administer deductions, garnishments, and benefit contributions through Quickbooks Payroll
  • Manage workers' compensation reporting and audits

Human Resources Administration

  • Oversee the employee lifecycle: onboarding, status changes, offboarding, and record-keeping
  • Administer benefits programs, open enrollment, and carrier/broker relationships
  • Maintain the employee handbook, HR policies, and compliance with employment standards and labor laws
  • Manage timekeeping and attendance systems, PTO policies, and leave administration
  • Support recruiting and hiring for production, warehouse, and other roles, including offer letters and compensation benchmarking
  • Coordinate performance review cycles, compensation reviews, and salary bands
  • Oversee workplace health and safety documentation and reporting for the production floor (in partnership with operations)
  • Handle sensitive employee matters with confidentiality, escalating to legal counsel or outside HR advisors as needed

Inventory and Supply Chain Finance

  • Oversee inventory valuation for blanks, raw materials, and in-process goods
  • Coordinate cycle counts and reconciliations between the system and the general ledger
  • Manage AP and vendor terms with suppliers, carriers, and equipment providers

FP&A and Strategic Support

  • Maintain financial calendar
  • Lead the annual budget, rolling forecasts, and cash flow planning
  • Evaluate capital investments such as new printers, facilities, and automation

Qualifications

Required

  • CPA (or equivalent) designation
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a controller or senior management role
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and inventory accounting
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks Enterprise.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial results to non-finance stakeholders

Preferred

  • Experience in print-on-demand, custom manufacturing, or direct-to-consumer e-commerce
  • Familiarity with multi-channel marketplace and payment processor reconciliation
  • Multi-currency experience

Pay: $95,000.00-$105,000.00 per year
