Our client, a reputable manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced Controller to join their growing organization. Reporting to the senior finance leader, this role will oversee financial operations, reporting, compliance, budgeting, and process improvement initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on accounting professional who enjoys combining technical expertise with strategic analysis in a dynamic and evolving business environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting organizational growth, strengthening financial processes, and providing valuable business insights.

Work Arrangement:

Hybrid in Waterloo, ON (3-4 days/week in-office)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, and general ledger activities.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, management reports, and month-end reporting packages.
  • Support and coordinate month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to members of the accounting team.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of internal controls and financial procedures.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Monitor financial trends, identify risks, and recommend process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and tax requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation completed or in progress.
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial statement preparation and month-end close responsibilities.
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Experience in manufacturing, construction, project-based, or similar operational environments is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to build relationships across multiple business functions.
