Position Description
Financial Management & Reporting
- Manage all day-to-day accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and provide regular variance analysis (budget vs. actual).
- Oversee corporate cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
Plant & Manufacturing Accounting
- Maintain and improve the plant’s standard costing system.
- Oversee inventory valuation, including regular cycle counts, year-end physical audits, and scrap/obsolescence tracking.
- Analyze manufacturing variances (labour, material yield, and overhead absorption) to identify cost‑saving opportunities.
- Partner with the plant manager to evaluate production efficiency and capital expenditure (CapEx) projects.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal tax requirements, including HST filing, corporate tax schedules, and EHT.
- Coordinate the year‑end audit review process with external accountants.
- Maintain and strengthen internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation (CA, CMA, CGA) is strongly preferred.
- 5-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Technical Skills Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) and hands‑on experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Syspro, or Plex).
- Knowledge Deep understanding of product costing, inventory management, and Canadian accounting standards.
- Soft Skills Strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills to collaborate with non-financial plant staff, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
