Overview
In this role, you drive the physical design of microprocessors, balancing power, performance and area to meet business needs. You will lead and mentor a team of senior engineers, collaborating with cross-functional partners to refine area, timing and power targets. You contribute technically at the executive level and help scale productivity with AI-enhanced tools. This position offers a meaningful impact on the next generation of AMD CPUs and AI-enabled compute platforms.
Responsibilities- Serve as the primary technical contact for your focus area
- Collaborate with peers in technology and design reviews
- Quantify impacts of technology issues in design reviews
- Represent the CPU Cores to executive management from a technical perspective
- Work cross-functionally to identify/assess complex issues and develop solutions
- Coordinate with design teams for area and floorplan refinement, timing targets, and power targets
- Leverage AI to boost personal productivity and contribute to agentic AI tooling for the broader team
- Experience leading technical teams
- Experience in high-speed microprocessor designs
- Full-Chip Floor planning
- Full-Chip Timing
- DRC/LVS at partition and/or Full-Chip level
- Ability to generate new design ideas and flows
- Knowledge of current sub-micron technologies
- Solid understanding of physical design tools and flows or custom circuit design
