The Opportunity
This is a highly visible hybrid opportunity for an experienced international credit and trade finance professional to lead a global Credit and Accounts Receivable function while serving as a key commercial partner to Sales.
Reporting to the CFO, with a dotted-line relationship to the CEO, the Credit & Trade Finance Manager will help protect cash flow and working capital while supporting profitable international growth.
Success in this role requires strong, practical expertise in Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, Bid Bonds and Advance Payment Guarantees, along with experience advising on documentary collections, credit insurance, export documentation and other international trade finance solutions. You will work closely with Sales to structure commercially viable transactions while managing customer, country and political risk.

Based at the Cambridge headquarters, the role offers a 3-day in-office / 2-day remote hybrid schedule, combining close collaboration with Finance, Sales, Operations and executive leadership with focused analytical and strategic work.

Position Description
As Credit & Trade Finance Manager, you will lead the organization’s global credit, Accounts Receivable and trade finance activities while partnering closely with Sales, Operations, Order Management, Logistics, banking partners and executive leadership.
A key part of your mandate will be evaluating and structuring international transactions involving Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, Performance Bonds, Bid Bonds, Advance Payment Guarantees, documentary collections, credit insurance and export documentation.
Working within a 3-day in-office / 2-day remote hybrid model, you will help Sales overcome payment, credit and documentation barriers while protecting the organization’s financial interests and supporting timely, profitable international business.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Leading the global Credit and Accounts Receivable function, including credit risk management, billing, collections, cash application, dispute resolution, reconciliation and management reporting.
- Serving as a key international trade finance resource to Sales and senior leadership, with particular expertise in Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, Performance Bonds, Bid Bonds and Advance Payment Guarantees.
- Advising on complex international transactions involving documentary collections, credit insurance, export documentation, international payment mechanisms and other trade finance solutions.
- Developing commercially viable payment structures that balance customer requirements with appropriate credit and financial risk management.
- Partnering with Sales and Operations early in the commercial process to identify and resolve payment, credit or documentation issues before they delay quotations, shipments or customer relationships.
- Managing credit policies, approval authorities and governance, including customer credit approvals, aged receivables, bad-debt provisions and write-offs within delegated authority.
- Monitoring customer, country, sovereign and political risk across the global portfolio and providing timely insight to senior leadership regarding receivables, credit exposure and working capital.
- Managing relationships with banks, insurers, international customers and commercial partners, including the organization’s senior relationship with Export Development Canada (EDC).
- Leading, coaching and developing the Accounts Receivable team while fostering a customer-focused, commercially minded and accountable credit culture.
- Building strong partnerships across Sales, Order Management, Logistics and Finance while driving process improvement, standardization and automation within SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud.
Experience
The following international credit and trade finance experience is particularly important to success in this role.
- Strong practical expertise with international Letters of Credit and international payment mechanisms.
- Demonstrated experience with Bank Guarantees, Bid Bonds and Advance Payment Guarantees.
- Experience advising on complex international transactions involving letters of credit, documentary collections, bank guarantees, bonds, credit insurance, export documentation and trade finance solutions.
- The ability to work closely and confidently with Sales, helping develop payment structures that support international business while appropriately managing financial risk.
In addition, you will bring
- 10+ years of progressive experience in international credit, trade finance, export finance, commercial banking or a closely related discipline.
- Experience supporting international customers and complex global commercial transactions, ideally within manufacturing, industrial equipment or a similarly international business environment.
- Strong knowledge of international credit risk, Accounts Receivable management and customer, country, sovereign and political risk assessment.
- Experience leading and developing an Accounts Receivable or credit team.
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with Sales to structure commercially viable solutions while appropriately managing financial risk.
- Experience working directly with banks, insurers and other financial institutions; exposure to export-credit agencies such as Export Development Canada (EDC) is highly valued.
- Strong commercial judgment, with the ability to balance credit discipline, customer requirements and broader business objectives.
- Experience improving, standardizing or scaling credit and Accounts Receivable processes.
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud is preferred.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or a related discipline.
- CPA, CFA, CTP or another relevant professional designation is considered an asset.
