Cyber Software Engineer

In this role you apply research to mission-led programmes, collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand threats, evolve capabilities, and innovate solutions that support national security. You will design, prototype, build, and test tools and systems that protect lives, while acting as a trusted advisor with integrity. You’ll work across software analysis, security architecture, and modern development practices to deliver impactful results.

• Research existing and emerging technologies to counter threats
• Design, prototype, build and test tools and solutions
• Advise as a trusted advisor within mission-led programmes
• Perform software analysis and reverse engineering (e.g., Ghidra or IDA Pro)
• Understand Linux-based OS internals, security architecture, and hardware abstraction
• Utilize virtualization, emulation, and containerisation for development and testing
• Apply AI-based systems to software development, analysis, or Agentic solutions
• Develop software from design to delivery using Agile practices
• Create tested, verifiable code and integrate with CI/CD pipelines

• Experience in software analysis and reverse engineering of compiled or interpreted code
• Knowledge of Linux-based operating system internals and security architecture
• Experience with virtualization, emulation, and containerisation for development and testing
• Experience with AI-based systems for software development or analysis
• Engineering software from design to delivery in modern IDEs and languages with Agile delivery
• Ability to create tested and testable code and integrate with automated verification systems and CI/CD pipelines
