Data Analyst

Location: Pontypool | Hybrid working

Salary: £39,079.39

Contract: 2-year Fixed Term Contract

Are you an experienced Data Analyst who knows their way around Power BI and enjoys turning complex data into something people can actually use?

We're working with a purpose-led housing organisation in South Wales that is looking for an experienced Data Analyst to join its team on a two-year fixed-term contract. This isn't an entry-level opportunity - the team needs someone confident in their ability who can get up to speed quickly and make an impact.

It's a great opportunity to take ownership of meaningful reporting and analysis, with your work helping to influence decisions, improve services and support the organisation's wider digital and data transformation journey.

What will the role involve?

A big part of the role will centre around Power BI, dashboards, performance reporting and data analysis . Some of the reporting produced by the team goes right through to Board level, so being able to work confidently with data and translate it into clear, useful insight is important.

Day to day, this will include:

  • Developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports
  • Analysing and interpreting complex datasets to identify trends and actionable insights
  • Monitoring KPIs and supporting organisational and regulatory reporting
  • Responding to data and analysis requests from across the business
  • Using data to identify inefficiencies and opportunities to improve services
  • Working with different teams to understand their data requirements
  • Supporting project groups and wider transformation initiatives
  • Helping maintain data accuracy, integrity and good data governance
  • Presenting complex information in a way that makes sense to non-technical audiences.

What are we looking for?

Power BI is the big one. The team needs someone with genuine hands-on experience who is comfortable working with reporting and dashboards rather than someone looking to take their first step into data.

Ideally, experience will include:

  • Strong practical Power BI skills
  • Good Excel capability
  • Experience analysing and interpreting complex data
  • SQL knowledge - highly beneficial
  • Experience of statistical analysis and/or data modelling
  • The ability to turn data into clear insight and tell the story behind the numbers
  • Strong communication skills, including presenting information to different audiences
  • Experience working within project teams
  • A proactive approach with a genuine continuous-improvement mindset.

Experience with GIS would also be useful, although the immediate priority is securing someone with strong Power BI and reporting capability.

Why consider it?

Alongside the £39,079.39 salary and security of a two-year FTC, this is an opportunity to join an organisation where data isn't simply being produced for the sake of reporting. The insight generated by this role will help shape decisions, improve services and ultimately contribute to better outcomes for tenants.

There's hybrid/flexible working, alongside benefits including generous annual leave, pension, health cash plan, personal development opportunities and a cycle-to-work scheme.
