Data Analyst Student Success Evaluation

Analyze student success data with Python, R, and Power BI at the University of Waterloo in a full-time temporary contract. Turn complex findings into decisions.

The Data Analyst and Evaluation Specialist supports data infrastructure, evaluation, and reporting across the Associate Provost, Students portfolio. You will source, consolidate, clean, merge, and analyze complex datasets while applying descriptive and inferential statistics. Your work supports retention, academic success, advising, transition initiatives, equity, and student experience programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop Power BI dashboards, visualizations, and analytical products
• Clean, merge, format, and analyze complex institutional datasets
• Identify data anomalies and refer discrepancies to data stewards
• Support surveys, evaluation plans, indicators, and reporting cycles
• Translate findings for university administrators and campus stakeholders

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience
• At least three years analyzing complex datasets
• Experience with Python and/or R for data manipulation
• Advanced Excel, SQL, Power BI, and statistical analysis knowledge
• Strong consultation, communication, documentation, and organizational skills
