Overview

As a Data & Development Engineer, you will own the data lifecycle from source connections through to analytics and AI, shaping how data drives decisions across the IT function. You will work within the Data, Analytics and Development team to design pipelines, manage data storage, and deliver reporting and advanced analytics. This role is pivotal in maximizing data value for the business and aligning with central data standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and explore opportunities for innovation and impact.

Responsibilities
  • Establish data feeds from internal and external sources via APIs and transfer mechanisms; design and implement data pipelines into the data platform
  • Design and implement database architectures for staging and storage; ensure data quality, integrity and security
  • Create ETL pipelines to transform data for reporting and analytics
  • Develop interactive dashboards to enable self-service data insights
  • Apply analytics and machine learning techniques to enhance data value and support AI initiatives
  • Advocate and implement central-team standards; provide guidance to data practitioners
  • Contribute to improvements in team ways of working and propose new opportunities
Key requirements
  • Stakeholder engagement to capture and translate business requirements
  • Translate business needs into technical designs and solution architecture
  • Ability to produce high-level and low-level design documentation
  • Strong understanding of database architecture and data modelling
  • Proficiency in T-SQL, DAX, M Language and Python
  • Experience with Microsoft stack including Azure data services or Microsoft Fabric
