Overview
In this contract Data Architect role, you will shape data architecture for a high-profile defence software solution in Phase 2 design. You will align project data with enterprise standards and lead data modeling, mapping, and indexing strategies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver Elasticsearch-based data models and drive the to-be state for data assets. The role combines data governance, model design, and agile delivery to support complex, large-scale datasets.
Responsibilities- Review and analyse source data (Digital Media and Communications Data); define mapping and transformation with business and technical stakeholders
- Produce data mapping documents and a data dictionary for the development team
- Review and assess the existing document data model against new features
- Design approach to fulfil data model gaps; collaborate with POLE and assess suitability of IES
- Produce and present a 'to-be' logical data model for project discussions
- Define new Elasticsearch indexes and document data models for new and existing indexes
- Provide implementation guidance for how indexes support Elasticsearch queries
- Draft activities to develop the 'to-be' state of Elasticsearch indexes and document data models
- Agree on Elasticsearch index delivery approach in an Agile setting
- Collaborate with project teams and serve as main point of contact for data-related queries

- Elasticsearch document data models (indices, documents, fields)
- Experience with very large datasets (terabytes) including extracting, ingesting, mapping, transforming data
- POLE data model knowledge (desirable)
- UKIC Information Exchange Standard (IES) experience (desirable)
