Data Centre Engineer – Linux, Networking, Colocation

In this hands-on role, you will support and improve critical data centre infrastructure across London and EMEA sites. You work closely with cross-functional teams to deploy, configure, and maintain Linux-based systems and physical hardware in live environments where uptime matters. You will automate deployment and operations with scripts, manage hardware logistics, and ensure secure, well-documented site operations. This position offers meaningful impact through robust, scalable infrastructure in a fast-paced trading context.
Responsibilities- Supporting buildout and maintenance of data centre and colocation environments
- Deploying and configuring servers using Linux and PXE-based provisioning
- Rack, stack and cable server and network hardware
- Troubleshooting hardware, connectivity and OS-level issues
- Writing scripts (Bash/Python) to automate deployment and operational tasks
- Managing inventory, hardware logistics and site coordination
- Working with internal teams and external providers to deliver infrastructure projects
- Maintaining high standards across documentation, security and site operations
- Supporting remote sites across EMEA when required
- Experience in a data centre, infrastructure or colocation environment
- Strong Linux fundamentals and comfort working at the command line
- Scripting ability (Bash or Python) for automation and tooling
- Solid understanding of networking basics (switching, routing, L2/L3 troubleshooting)
- Experience with fibre and copper cabling, installation and fault finding
- Hands-on experience with enterprise hardware, including Cisco and Arista
- Organised, proactive and able to work independently in fast-moving environments
- Comfortable with occasional travel and out-of-hours work
