Overview

In this role, you will lead and optimize the operation of AWS’s global data center infrastructure, spanning on-site and co-located facilities. You’ll build and refine processes to sustain safe, reliable, high‑velocity delivery and scale, including AI/accelerated computing platforms. You’ll manage cross‑functional teams, collaborate with internal and external partners, and drive continuous improvement through new technologies and in‑house automation tools. Your work helps ensure resilient services while advancing operational excellence and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end lifecycle of data center infrastructure (rack installation, break-fix, decommissioning) to ensure smooth delivery
  • Leverage Generative AI and emerging tech to create in-house tools, automate workflows, and drive improvements
  • Manage and develop technicians, delivering high performance and strong technical leadership
  • Maintain existing co-located and in-house data centers and support new data center openings
  • Continuously improve processes and procedures across the team
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors
  • Liaise with internal teams and management groups
  • Ensure adherence to and beyond local Health & Safety standards in all data centers
  • Create and maintain metrics to drive positive change across data centers and operations
  • Assist in implementing service methodologies: incident, problem, change, and capacity management
  • Be part of a diverse team that keeps the cloud running and enables employees and customers to rely on scalable infrastructure
Key requirements
  • Experience communicating complex business concepts verbally and in writing
  • Experience in managing people and leading teams
  • Experience in crisis management and planning
  • Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and cost reporting
  • Leadership and people management
  • Strategic thinking and collaboration
  • Crisis management and problem-solving
  • Systems administration (Linux or Windows)
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean, PMP or similar standards
  • Experience in data centers or critical infrastructure
